Tonight is The Last Time…

Tonight we’re doing it one more time, this time for an hour.

It’s just fun. No minimums, no cover, no pressure on you or us.

PLEASE NOTE that next Tuesday, with a lazy holiday weekend planned, we’ve already decided to take off, and the following weeks we’re not sure of yet, as we want to pause for at least one week to consider at what we want to do or musically work on next, and other possible available options or arrangements.

So, tonight is definitely the last time in June we’re doing this gig… And possibly the last time we’ll be doing it, either two weeks, a few weeks, this summer, under the current arrangement, or at this venue…

It has been a WONDERFUL, richly rewarding experience, and we have to thank the lovely Serra Gokce (restaurant/club owner) and charming Debbie Thame (the night’s producer) for letting us come in, play, experiment, and develop… While it’s been a lot of work, with rehearsals, prep, PR, and set up, it’s also be very fun, beneficial, creative, informative, and a wonderful learning experience (for at least me if not all of us.)

So, we may be back to Serra’s on Tuesday Nights, we may not be… Subscribe to this blog (to get email updates), and subscribe to our individual social media pages, and keep an eye out for whatever we may choose to do next, either collectively or individually.

Thank you for all that have come by, and for your continued, wonderful support and belief!

And to answer a question: Yes, very possibly, there will be a short video of clips from the past few weeks, highlighting the three of us performing at Serra’s, put on YouTube at some point, but I’m not promising that any time soon.

Have an awesome and safe 4th of July!

Screen Shot 2015-06-26 at 8.09.43 PM

We’ve been asked back to Serra’s (in Studio City) this coming Tuesday (June 30th, 2015), though this time we’ll be doing one (our 1st ever) 60 minute set of eclectic tunes, starting at 8 PM and going till 9PM…

And once again, you and your friends are invited to drop in to listen, at any point, or to take off whenever.

Serra’s front door, kitchen and bar are open the entire time we’re there, so… from the moment we arrive, load in, set up, sound check, and break down, you’re welcome to watch, listen, eat, drink or just be merry (a little pun for ya, since, after the show last week we found out, from Uncle Larry Davis, that Serra’s was previously the location of the iconic nightclub, “Queen Mary.”)

Date: Tuesday, June 30th, 2015

FaceBook invite for June 30th:

For those that were there last week (THANK YOU), we’ll do a few of the same songs, and some that we didn’t get to… If you had a favorite, and if you’re coming back, and want to hear it again this week, tell us before our scheduled “set rehearsal” this weekend. We also, always hope to include at least one song that we’ve never done before together in public as we consider this night at Serra’s an open, public, rehearsal, and consider ourselves, continually, a fun, artistic, collaborative, work in progress.

Though we don’t currently have a collective name, a FB page, or a Twitter account, we are…

“You’re a Lucky Guy”

Yesterday I came out of an audition, feeling good.

Outside, while crossing the street, I smiled and said hello to a guy, wearing a turban…

“You’re a lucky guy,” he blurted.
“I know,” I replied. My smile even bigger.

That startled him, but he continued, “Do you know why?” he asked.

“Yup, i totally do!” I responded, my shit eating grin taking over my face… “Have a great week.”

I’m certain he wanted to work me for some scam or magic trick… but honestly, I was tempted to go back and start listing off reasons of why I am such a lucky guy.

Not one of those reasons is because I’ve booked acting work recently, and my computer’s in the shop, i’ve been suffering through a few injuries, and my phone has glitches as of late… but how great is it to be alive, happy, healthy, have energy, support, and quality friends, be of sound mind, to be able to make free choices, feel loved, make people laugh… To be able to express creativity, joy, music, humor… make changes from the negative, accentuate the positive…

I am a lucky guy.

Free Admission to LACMA – Wha?

Did you know the following statement currently exists on LACMA’s website…

Note, L.A. County residents receive free general admission after 3 pm every weekday LACMA is open! “

Well, today we took advantage of this very public loophole, found some FREE street parking nearby (a rarity in LA), went in for FREE, and saw some great stuff, that I’m sure cost the museum quite a bit of cashola.

I do publicly have to say I was a bit disappointed the blue dog, by Jeff Koons was no longer at LACMA, but…

We loved the new light immersion exhibit, the cars, and just soaking in kinds of various stuff…

Did I mention it was FREE?

SINGING & FREE in STUDIO CITY (Update! NOW a Full Set!)

Screen Shot 2015-06-16 at 10.42.20 PM

This coming Tuesday (June 23rd), Deirdre, Roger & I are trying something new, happy that we will be doing a full set (35-50 minutes?) at Serra’s Dine & Dance in Studio City, as we’ve just changed our arrangement with the night’s producer.

That’s right we will now be doing 1 full set at the beginning of the evening, and then packing up, as we flip the stage over to comics work-shopping material. We’re constantly looking at and working on “new” material… We do a wide mix of styles, and blends, some like maybe you’ve heard, some like you probably haven’t.

We’ll get there, set up, maybe do a warm up song or two, goof off to some mp3 tracks or whatever, as we set up and sound check (all which is open to the public), and then sometime before or after 8PM we’ll continue on, rolling until 8:45PM.

At 8:45 we’re done, and we’ll flip the stage over to the producer Debbie, at which point she’ll introduce whichever comics she’s lined up for the evening as we quickly break down and get out of there. In past week’s there have been open slots available for comics, so come early and chat with her if you’d like. We may stick around, we may split.

Follow this blog, or keep your eyes on Tom, Deirdre or Roger’s social media pages for any possible updates!

  • PLACE: Serra’s in Studio City, 12449 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604
  • TIME: FREE to come early and go as you please… (we’re done at 8:45)
  • DATE: June 23rd, 2015
  • COST: Whether you show up early or late, the evening is FREE and doors are open.
  • There is currently no drink or food minimum.
  • The front door, kitchen and bar are open the entire time we are there.
  • Deirdre, Roger and I are using the space and the opportunity to develop material, as you know we are not always at FREE or open venues.
  • If we’re able to build a small crowd, possibly there will be more fun opportunities for us and other musicians in the future.
  • Feel FREE to stop by.
  • Feel FREE to tell your friends who may live near Studio City.
  • PARKING: There is a small lot, other than there’s street parking (metered till 8PM).
  • We don’t have a collective name at this point.
  • Deirdre Moncy (vocals & keys), Tom Kiesche (vocals), Roger Aldi (drums).

Note: Several of you have expressed interest in seeing me sing “out of the closet” LIVE (… While I typically don’t  post about open mic’s before I go, and many of the times I “guest” in someone else’s show, I only do one or a few songs, or there’s a high ticket price with a drink minimum.

This is a solid, FREE chance to hear us as we continue to develop.

Here’s a video link, of one song from the 1st week…
It was the very 1st time we performed, THE DANCE, live…

We’re Back Tomorrow, though it’s CHANGED (EARLIER)

Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 9.19.25 AM

Things keep changing with this little pop up Tuesday night gig at Serra’s that Deirdre, Roger and I have been doing… This Tuesday night (tomorrow), we’ve been asked to start earlier (7PM), with us and the stand up comics in-between ending earlier than previous weeks (9PM). Supposedly there’s another thing coming in after us, that we’ve been invited to mingle with.

Each week it has been a lot of flying by the seats of our collective pants with changes happening on the fly… The first week we were going to do 3 songs, we ended up doing 8…

Anyway, that’s the info we have as of now…  June 16th, 7PM to 9PM… We’re told we’re doing three 2 song sets… But really, who knows what it will end up… We’re just trying to smile and using this opportunity to work and sharpen material.

Serra’s is in Studio City on Ventura Blvd.
